Norrsken22 has closed its first African technology growth fund and has surpassed its USD 200mn target, raising USD 205mn. It has attracted investments from development Finance institutions, which are; British International Investment, Norfund, Standard Bank Group, U.S. International Development Finance Corporation.
According to press reports, approximately 59% of the funding came from a consortium of unicorn founders.
In a statement issued by Norrsken22 the 30 individuals include Olugbenga Agboola, co-founder Flutterwave, Niklas Zennström, co-founder Skype, Jacob de Geer, co-founder iZettle, Niklas Östberg, co-founder Delivery Hero, Carl Manneh, co-founder Mojang, Sebastian Knutsson, co-founder King and Willard Ahdritz of founder Kobalt Music.
The fund’s initial close attracted interest from SEB Pension Foundation and a few family offices.
Companies in the fund’s portfolio are Sabi, Autochek, Time Smile ID, Tyme and Shara.
