Coris Group enters Central Africa, Mauritania as SocGen exits

Plans by French financial services group Société Générale to sell its businesses in four African countries have made headway following the sale of its businesses in Chad and Mauritania to Coris Group.

The transaction aligns with the Ivorian financial services group’s strategic regional expansion which started in 2008 and which since then has expanded into the eight countries of the West African Monetary Union and Guinea.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and Asafo & Co. advised on the deal.

The bank predominately operates in the agriculture, mining, services, trade and industry sectors.
