Amini, an early-stage deep tech company based in Kenya, has raised USD 2mn in a pre-seed round that was oversubscribed. The round was led by European climate tech fund Pale Blue Dot alongside over investors Superorganism, RaliCap, W3i, Emurgo, Kepple Ventures and angel investors.
The company aims to solve the continent’s environmental data gap through artificial intelligence and satellite technology. And while it currently focuses on the insurance sector, it is expanding into supply-chain monitoring as multinational companies seek exact measurements of their carbon footprint to report on their environmental impact—particularly in light of global regulations such as the SEC’s disclosure rules and Europe’s Green Deal.
We are building the single source of truth for environmental data across Africa. Data has the potential of transforming livelihoods by enabling everything from climate resilience to sustainable value chains.
Kate Kallot, CEO
Over the past six months, the company has developed a data aggregation and analytics platform that collects, unifies and processes satellite data, weather data and other types of data.
Amini was founded by Kate Kallot who is also the company’s CEO.
